This blows my mind!!! First, they gave away their album free or any price you wish to pay. Now, they are allowing fans to mess with their music for a minimal fee! Absolutely mind-boggling!! You can download each individual stem track, bass, electric guitar, vocals and drums at 99cents on i-tunes. Next, use garageband or any music editting software for the matter and create your very own unique remix of Radiohead’s Nude. Upload it on to the website and share with world and let them vote. They even made voting widgets for blogs, facebook and myspace so you can put them up on your own site. Is this amazing or what?
This post has been long overdue. I wanted to write about how the modern day artist is able to catch on the wave of the Long Tail in Web 2.0. The artist community is probably one of the largest online apart from the Tech Geeks. For the photographers, there’s Flickr and Deviant Art for the digital artist. These portals allow the artists to interact amongst a community and function as a form of portfolio as well.
With the advent of blogs, the artist is now able to develop a new tool, the Blogfolio. That’s right, a Blog that works as a Portfolio as well. Now this really kills two birds with one stone. There’s no longer a need for complicated coding or hiring expensive website designers. They can pretty much do everything for free and by themselves. The Blogfolio idea is the one of the latest trend that has captured the minds of many web-based visual artists. This allows them to develop a simple CMS (Content Management System) without any fancy complex html or flash codings.
I believe this not only allows them to enjoy some cost saving without getting external support, it also gives them a better focus on their projects without worrying about website management. The Blogfolio concept also provides as an avenue to interact with their clients and potential clients. It’s really Web 2.0 at work. You literally build a community around the work you do. Past clients who are genuinely touched by your works will leave testimonies, share positive experiences and in some sense help to sell you. What more can you ask for?
I see Jacqueline doing that really well and perhaps, this would be the greater purpose for this blog, to display more of my works. Stay tuned, they will be coming right up.
It’s been a while since I last posted and so many things have happened and it’s getting harder to breathe at times. Let’s have a quick recap of what happened in the past three weeks. 1) My brother has finally left for sydney, leaving me all alone in an empty house. 2) I proposed and she said yes, I will save that story for another time, so we are now busy prepping for the big day. It almost feels very surreal right now that we are looking at hotels and photographers etc. Final Presentations and exams for all my modules are coming right and I have been staying in school till like 11? It’s really crazy. I have so many backdated drafts piling up here, perhaps I will finish up on one later. It’s just crazy.
Edit: Well, we all may have watched Happy Tree Friends before but to see it in real life…it ain’t so funny anymore right? The only reason why they are not killing the animals in a humane manner is really to preserve the entire piece of fur, keeping it undamaged. I have a lot of angry words that I would like to say but I just can’t…
